hey boo,

Often times when we find ourselves in a routine, we get unmotivated to keep going and find ourselves “just going through the motions”. You wake up, eat breakfast, go to work, come home, eat dinner, go to sleep, wake up, and do it all over again the next day. It’s easy to get into phases in life where you really aren’t living, and the days are just passing by. This can easily lead to being unmotivated, feeling a sense of loneliness, and even depression. If you find yourself in a space where you aren’t quite where you want to be, but you are in the process of getting yourself there, you absolutely have to stay motivated – and it’s hard when your day to day isn’t as exciting as it use to be, and there really isn’t anything to look forward to during the week.

The easiest and best remedy we have for that – is to change it up sis. Start doing some new things, and switch up your week as little or as much as you need to. Do what you need to do, to get where you need to go, and if that means doing something out of the ordinary to switch up your weekly routines to stay motivated to keep going – then do that! We came up with several ways to change up your weekly routines.

1. Take A Different Route

If you always take the same route to work, switch it up! Take a different route! Take the more scenic route, or the one that isn’t as fast ( especially if you are in no hurry to get there). If you walk to work, take a different street this time. Maybe go out of your way, and start seeing what else is nearby your job, or the places you frequent. You’d be surprised the things you miss when you are on autopilot all the time.

2. Work From Someplace Else

If you have the opportunity to work remotely – take full advantage! Take a day and work from your favorite coffee shop, or a local lunch spot that has wifi. Anywhere that has wifi really! If you don’t have that opportunity, that’s okay! If you work on a blog, or a business in your free time, get out of your room and off the couch and work from some place else! Get your creative juices flowing in a new way, with a new environment, surrounded by new people. We touched on this briefly in a podcast, but it’s important to create a beautiful environment around yourself, and that means putting yourself in the best environment to work in. If you have the opportunity to switch it up – even if you can’t work remote, but maybe not sit at your desk but on a different floor, or office – do that.

3. See Your Friends During the Week

You don’t have to wait to the weekend to see your girls! Make plans to grab a quick bite on Wednesdays or Thursdays, since those tend to be the most boring days of the week ( at least we think so). Make plans to go to happy hour, even if you’re tired, commit to just an hour with your friends. If you’re in a funk, and not feeling it, we guarantee you, you will leave in a better mood than when you came. Sometimes it’s forcing yourself out of that box and mindset, and breaking up the routine with something you would do on the weekend.

4. Get Involved With Your Community

We are all about volunteering, and giving your time to your local community or non profit groups. Get involved with local organizations that are typically found in your hometown. We say do your research first, but ways to get involved could be mentoring programs, volunteer activities of service, or becoming a member of a board on one of those organizations. Typically they hold meetings during the week, or events, and these are perfect ways to get yourself involved.

5. Spend Some Extra Time On Self Care

Book a small spa day on Friday, or get that mani pedi you’ve been putting off. Women typically wait until the weekends when they have more free time to spend time on self care – but we say, what better love to show yourself when you absolutely need it the most, and not have to wait until the weekend to get it. Depending on your budget, take yourself out to eat, go buy yourself something nice, get a massage, or facial, and spend some quality alone time with just you.
